Welcoming Teachers Back

This week, we welcomed Ms Samantha and Ms Linda back to school. The staff were thrilled to work again with these teachers.

Including God in Behavior Management Strategy

Our mission and vision here at Unity speak about how to develop children holistically to become productive God-fearing citizens. The teachers and I have been working closely with some students who need a little more attention than others.

We have developed this system whereby we have meaningful conversations and group prayer sessions with said students to identify and rectify behavior. So far, based on observation, we have seen a drastic change with most students as it relates to their attitude and behavior here at school. Encouraging students to think before they do and analyze if their actions would be acceptable to God has allowed some students to make better decisions inside and outside the classroom.

Completing Goals

I have completed by 30 days’ plan. The first 30 days were used for observing and understanding.

  1. Meet & Greet: Initiate one-on-one meetings with staff, teachers, and student representatives. Even if you know them, these meetings set the tone for your leadership.

  2. School Culture Review: Observe the school culture and dynamics, noting areas of potential improvement.

  3. Systems & Processes Audit: Review current administrative processes, academic systems, and extracurricular activities. Identify inefficiencies.

  4. Feedback Collection: Use anonymous surveys to gather insights about what’s working and what isn’t.

Team Work Makes the Dream Work

This week, I would like to celebrate teacher collaboration. Our infant 1 teachers have been working together, sharing teaching strategies and modeling Language Arts lessons to assist each other in strengthening their weaknesses in that subject area. I commend their efforts to be servant workers and not only serving the students but also assisting their coworkers.

Completing Goals

I have started my 60-day plan, where I Analyze Feedback, Set Goals, Audit resources, and Draft Initiatives. This week, I had many chats with different teachers about teaching strategies and classroom management plans. I would like to celebrate teachers being open to new ideas and advice and implementing them in their classrooms.

Observing God Work

Since we have invited God to be the center of our behavioral management plan, we have seen major improvements with some students here at Unity. We now see students reflecting on their actions and thinking before they do. They are using their time to serve their school and teachers. One student said to me “ I love to help now. Anything you need help with, I am here”. It’s always crucial to remember that all students are unique and they are to be loved uniquely.

Weekly Celebration Unity Presbyterian Primary School November 1st 2024

This week we would like to celebrate the teachers being optimistic about bridging the gap by including different reading interventions in the classroom. The teachers participated in a Professional Development Session with Mr. Dwayne to learn how to create individual accounts for students to track and record their progress while using the RACHEL Program. The teachers are all excited about implementing this in the classroom.
During my walk-through for this week, I noticed that students take pride and joy in displaying how to be good Servant workers and community builders. I believe that these good qualities always start in the classroom. These picture shows students working together as a group in their class, respecting each other while exercising kindness and compassion for each unique skill that they possess. During the walkthrough, you can feel the appreciation amongst the group members as they display grace and purpose and allowing each other to feel the sense of belonging to the group.
Students also showed this week how they can be God Worshipers by celebrating Reformation and taking the initiative to understand why Reformation is Celebrated throughout October.

Weekly Celebrations                                                        Nov 8 2024

This week, I would like to celebrate our students being Image Reflectors. Using the RACHEL Program, students completed a Cultural Identity Tree activity where they were able to Reflect on themselves as who they are as an individual, what are some of their dreams and hopes and specials words they would use to describe themselves. They got to reflect on people that they appreciate the most and who has inspired them to be the person that they are today. I had the opportunity to facilitate this lesson along with the Standard 6 teachers and it was really touching to see how students build confidence within themselves and the good qualities that they admire in their classmates.

Unity Presbyterian School, Belize City today 15 November 2024 celebrated it's cultural day. Learning to appreciate different cultures is at the heart of Christian Education in our schools. Continue praying and supporting our schools ministry.

Celebrations April 2025

The Month started off with the Infant 1 Students modeling how to be God Worshippers by following the rules for church and participating with a joyous heart. They also performed a wonderful song for the school that would encourage them to be faithful and always seek the Goodness of God.

Standard 2 students also took the initiative to be Beauty Creators by uplifting the beautification of the school by planting flowers on the lower flat veranda. The students displayed joy-filled collaboration by working together to get the job done.

Unity Presbyterian Students love any chance they get to swing into a new practice. They were more than happy when they heard that their school had been selected as one of the schools in Belize to participate in the pilot project of the baseball league. They acted as community builders to get their classmates and other children from the neighborhood to participate in friendly games in the evening time.

During our last chapel before Easter Break, Pastor Betson gave a great Service to the students. The students felt so inspired during the service that 16 students, after hearing about the reason Easter is Celebrated and What JESUS has done for our sins, decided to give their lives to Christ and walk in faith. These 16 students are others were then invited to a follow-up service on April 25th with parents.

Community Workers Infant 2 class Story line- Hearts to love, hands to help, minds to grow. This activity ties to my story line because it encourages students to show love and gratitude toward those who serve their community, to use their hands in acts of kindness by giving back or expressing thanks, and to grow their minds by learning about the important roles community workers play in making society better. Deep-Hope- It is my deep hope that my students and I will grow in wisdom and wonder, recognizing our identity as image-bearers of God, called to love, serve and restore the world around us. Throughline- Community BUilding and Image Bearers
Formational Learning Experience After learning about the different community workers, and appreciating their hard work for their job, the students of Infant 2 decided to write thank you cards and prepare love baskets to give to the men who work at Belize Waste Control. These men assist the school and the community with emptying the garbage every Tuesday and Friday so that the community is clean. They also sung a Song “ You are special” to these men to remind them that they were created in God’s image and they are special and valued in everything they do!
